My Mother's Wisdom
It all began at home, with a mother who had studied only until third grade and yet understood health better than most.
Read chapter →A lifelong journey: a mother's kitchen, years of research, books, a website read by millions, a kitchen in Iowa, years of testing food, and finally a laboratory of our own. Read the short version, or explore it chapter by chapter.
The 1970s. My mother had studied only until third grade, yet she cleansed, fed and cared for our family with remarkable wisdom: seasonal food, fruit every day, gut cleansing when needed, careful hygiene, and treats made at home in measured portions. She was raised in Kerala, with Ayurveda and Siddha all around her.
1992–1997. As a PhD student in Madurai, I followed her practical advice, began water therapy, and learned yoga and meditation. In 1997 I published Putrunoyum Unavum (Diet and Cancer), filled with her recipes and those of friends across India.
1997–1998. At Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York, evening yoga for patients confirmed what I had learned at home: five things are essential for health. Food, cleansing, movement, breathing, and meditation with rest.
1999–2009. I shared this knowledge online; the website grew to about 2,000 pages and more than 30 million visits. In Iowa, my wife cooked for friends who asked for healthy food, and we learned traditional food wherever we travelled.
2010–2021. Organic is not the same as tested, so we began testing our own food, then founded Shop Awareness, and in 2021 AMMAGENOMICS, our own accredited laboratory, with MA Omics for tested food.
Today. People kept asking us to cook for them and guide them. 010FEET Wellness is our answer: the five essentials as five levels of care, with tested food at the centre, and honesty about what we can and cannot promise.
